In 2011, OTS challenged landscape architecture and design students to reinterpret a community space at the Evergreen Brick Works using products made from recycled Ontario tires. The winning design was implemented on the site in the summer of 2012 and is now enjoyed by thousands of visitors who frequent Evergreen Brick Works throughout the year.
This year’s OTS Student Design Challenge will feature the redesign of a prominent public concourse at Toronto’s YMCA Central location, offering students another unique opportunity to put their best ideas into practice and inspire creative uses of tire-derived products.
Participating students attended an intensive two-day Design Jam in January, where they developed and presented their design concepts. Visit the Announcements page for news and updates on the OST Student Design Challenge and the site build.
