The OTS Design Challenge was launched in Fall 2011, when OTS challenged landscape architecture and design students to reinterpret a community space at the Evergreen Brick Works using products made from recycled Ontario tires. The winning design was implemented on the site in the Summer of 2012 and is now enjoyed by thousands of visitors who frequent Evergreen Brick Works throughout the year.
The 2013 Design Challenge featured the redesign of a prominent public concourse at Toronto’s YMCA Central location, offering students another unique opportunity to put their best ideas into practice and inspire creative uses of tire-derived products. The winning design was implemented on the site in the Fall of 2014 and is now enjoyed by thousands of visitors throughout the year.
