Dear OTS Registered Participants,

We have two separate web-related notices:

RethinkTires.ca 

You may have noticed that on Wednesday between the times of approximately 3:30pm and 4:50pm our public-facing website, www.RethinkTires.ca was compromised. We swiftly regained control of the website and have since been working diligently to restore all of the website assets.

Please note that this did NOT affect our database where participant information is stored (I.e. registrant information, claims, etc.). We would like to assure you that all of your information is secure. The database that stores your information including contact information and claims is in a completely separate environment from the www.RethinkTires.ca website. Any information that you see or enter once you have logged in to your account on our website is stored in another data centre on another server, and thus is safe.

We are currently taking steps to ensure that this does not happen in the future. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us as info@rethinktires.ca or 1-888-687-2202.

Heartbleed Bug

You may have read in the news last week about a web security vulnerability called the Heartbleed bug. Many organization’s websites, such as Canada Revenue Agency, Yahoo, and Google, were affected by this vulnerability. We have checked all of OTS’ databases, servers, devices, and services and have found that we have not been impacted by this vulnerability. This is not related to the website issue noted above.

However, it is good practice to occasionally update your passwords. As an extra line of defence, we are recommending that all participants change their password on the OTS website.

To reset your password, go to http://rethinktires.ca/login/ and click the “Request new password” tab. Enter your email address and you will be sent instructions on setting a new password.
