Now that we’re cruising through spring, it’s time to flex your green thumb and get your garden in shape. Whether you use your outdoor space for entertaining family for a pool party, hosting a friendly BBQ, or showcasing your prized rose bushes, there is a product to benefit (and green!) every space. Here are some of our favourite recycled rubber products to incorporate into the backyard:

Garden goods

Steer clear of weeds this season by laying a bed of recycled rubber mulch in your garden. By using rubber mulch, you’re conserving moisture in the soil and reducing waste by using a recycled material. When placed in gardens, recycled rubber mulch prevents beds from drying out as quickly – this is especially crucial during those hot summer months. Rubber mulch is long-lasting and requires no seasonal replacement (lasting up to 10 times longer than wood mulch!). Oh – and it is made in Ontario from 100% recycled tires.

Landscaping love

Sprucing up your yard can be done using a multitude of recycled rubber products that come in different patterns, textures and colours. Before you host your annual backyard gathering, make sure your yard is camera ready. Landscape and deck tiles are a great addition to outdoor surfaces – the interlocking tiles make for easy installation and the mosaic-like aesthetic appeal may even cause lawn-envy. In addition to being durable, these products are designed for our Canadian climate and include channels to allow for water drainage. And don’t forget to add some flair to your flowers with pretty and practical stepping stones made from old tires.

If you’re one of the lucky ones who has a pool to cool down when the temperatures rise, consider poolside rubber surfacing as a safe, sustainable alternative to other pavers. Made from recycled rubber, this slip-resistant surfacing will keep your kids safe, guests happy, and your poolside primped!
