Ontario Tire Stewardship is pleased to release the complete Consultation Report from its 2012 Consultation sessions with Stewards and tire end-users. The complete Report can be accessed here. We would like to thank the organizations who took time to attend the sessions, and those who continued to engage with OTS in subsequent discussions on the proposals presented.

Launched in August of this year OTS undertook a far-reaching consultation effort with Stewards and tire end-users, with a particular focus on Off-Road tire end-users, to seek input on the proposed changes to the Used Tires Program operations, financial model and Rules for Stewards. The comments and suggestions received in the open Consultation sessions in August, and through on-going dialogue with individual sectors and organizations greatly enhanced OTS’s understanding of the market, and the impacts that could result from the implementation of the proposals. As a result OTS has modified its approach to seek to minimize the potential for marketplace disruptions, and we believe that we have been able to address a number of the concerns that were raised to the satisfaction of the industry as a whole.

At this time OTS is continuing to work with Waste Diversion Ontario and the Ministry of the Environment to finalize timelines for implementation and will be issuing additional communications with these specific details in the near future.

The release of this consultation Report does not signify and end to the dialogue, merely a transition to a period where we focus on tactical implementation considerations in discussions with Waste Diversion Ontario and the Ministry of the Environment.
