New RPRA Registration Requirements for Tire Stewards and Service Providers

17.07.18 | Announcements

The Used Tires Program currently operated by OTS is ending on December 31, 2018 and will be replaced by a new mandatory tire recycling system starting January 1, 2019.

Under this new system introduced by the Government of Ontario, stewards in the current program who meet the definition of a tire producer under the new Tires Regulation, will be required to register with the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority. The Authority was created to enforce the new system.

Producers and service providers are legally required to register with the Authority and report information by the deadlines provided below.

Tire stewards – referred to as producers in the new system – must register by August 31. Learn more and register.

Tire service providers – including collectors, haulers, retreaders and processors – will not be able to register before September 4. The deadline for service providers to register is October 31.
